Conditions and Treatments

Pain, discomfort, disturbed functioning of our body is a sign of our body not coping with the demands we make on it.

Osteopathy is an established recognized system of diagnosis, treatment, prevention and rehabilitation which lays its main emphasis on the structural functional integrity of the body. Viewing the body as a whole unit, osteopathy aims to consider all aspects of the patient's life including, posture, muscle tone, flexibility, nutrition, circulation and stress.

Ron Marx combines a range of osteopathic techniques including soft tissue massage, gentle mobilisation, cranial and functional technique as well as acupuncture to assist the natural healing of the body thus helping reduce pain and malfunction.

Back pain (especially lower back pain) is the commonest complaint of people visiting an osteopath. There are several causes of this common condition including muscle or ligament strain, joint or other soft tissue inflammation. A herniated disc can be the cause of back pain which may be accompanied with sciatica, pain radiating in the buttock and lower limb. In very rare cases, back pain maybe indicative of a more serious pathology.

Neck and shoulder pain is another condition often treated by osteopathy. Like back pain it may be a result of tissue damage or injury but is often caused by poor posture and stress.

Headaches and migraines are often partly caused by neck problems and in those cases may respond to osteopathic treatments of the neck.

Sports injuries Osteopathy can help treat and rehabilitate many sports injuries as well as give advice on injury prevention.

Stress, anxiety and sleep problems A combination of osteopathic techniques and acupuncture or acupuncture on its own can be very effective in helping relieve the effects of life’s stresses on our body and mind. Acupuncture can often break the cycle of insomnia.

Other conditions Ron Marx has successfully treated include: trapped nerves, frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, joint pain and injuries, particularly knee problems. Back pain in pregnancy.
